If you’ve never attended a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) – such as Morehouse (SpelHouse to be exact), Florida A&M University or Howard University – you may be unaware that we’re in the midst of the most celebrated time of the academic year! HOMECOMING! Homecoming at an HBCU is basically a national holiday that is observed with the utmost reverence.
For those of us that have attended a HBCU Homecoming, we know that most (if not all) of the fun starts waaaaay before kickoff. It begins at the TAILGATE. It is safe to say that tailgating at an HBCU Homecoming is probably more important than the football game itself! It is an experience like no other.
The smell of grilled foods, the music, the abundance of team colors, school pride, and the thrill of camaraderie fills the air in the hours leading up to kickoff, making for a festive environment for fans of all ages.
A kid-friendly tailgate is a perfect way to kick off a fun-filled day for the whole family. For kids, those lasting memories can foster a lifelong love of the game and like celebrations!
To celebrate the season, ANNA+POOKIE pulled together a quick kid-friendly tailgate inspiration. It pairs paper party supplies from our Swan Lake Collection with a few football classics.
Please leave a comment below. Tell us what great ideas you have for the perfect tailgating experience!
XO,
